My [lovely] wife just bought an iBook G4 12" (OS X 10.3.8). She's able to connect to SMB/CIFS shares using the cifs:// or smb:// syntax, with no problem, albeit OS X dcoesn't seem to support pure CIFS (445/tcp) connections -- see a recent related post by me about this.
However, the connections she sets up (whether at work, to Win2k resources), or at home (to WinXP or Samba3 resources) don't seem to be persistent, even when she selects "Add to Keychain". In every case, she periodically -- after sleep or reboot -- has to re-enter credentials. This is both inconvenient and unintuitive.
I've tried this both with "Require password to wake this computer" enabled and disabled, with no difference.
Help!?!
