Hello everyone!

My trial verison of a software I'm using ran out. I'm trying to reinstall Panther on my Powerbook so that I can reinstall the trial version. (Not that I'm trying to be cheap, but I tried ordering online because I need the software tonight and no such luck.) Anyhow, when I insert my Panther install disks it says that I can not install Panther on this drive (my HD) becuase the version of my HD (10.3.7) is newer than the version on the Panther CD.

Is there any way around this? I desperately need help!

You can reinstall it even if a new version is present if you check "Archive and Install" in the options.

However, this will probably not reset the evaluation period on the software you're using, as it probably stored that information in the home folder. So it'd probably be a waste of time.

I don't think it even gave me the option of doing an "Archive and Install".

You have to click the "Options" button.

Again, this probably won't reset your trial period, though.

Unless you can somehow discover where they are hiding the data that tells the software that the demo has expired, you will probably have to erase your hard drive and reinstall from there.

Once you've done that and have OS X configured the way you want it, you can clone your OS X partition using something like CCC and then restore the partiition once the demo expires again and start the cycle over again. But you'd have to back up all the files you've created since the OS X install or you'd lose them.
