It was reported a while back that system prefs in Tiger included settings for Dynamic DNS. Is this feature still in the latest builds? Does it work through .Mac? I would love to be able to connect to my home G5 without having to deal with DynDNS.

What's wrong with "dealing" with DynDNS? I set it up on my machine a couple of years ago and haven't touched it since then. That doesn't seem like much of a hassle to me.

You're right, a friend of mine uses it to serve a website on his G5.

Same here. I use it daily for several of my Macs and it works fine. OTOH, having something like that built right into the OS might be more comfortable for newcomers. Not everybody knows about DynDNS.

DynDNS is simple and effective. I don't see a problem with it at all. You don't even need to use the DynDNS URL you choose for your machine - I have my own domain name (as I suspect a lot of tech-savvy people do) and I have a subdomain set up as an A-name so all I have to remember is the subdomain.markallan.co.uk and I can log into my machine from anywhere.

Works a treat.

No one knows the answer to this part of the original question then?
