I am assuming I can place it on my external HD then transfer it over to the new Mac, but where is it kept and where do I paste it on the new Mac's HD.
Also is there a way that, once on the new Mac, I can avoid having to be asked for the passord for each and every time I access a password - maybe just say yes to all or similar?
Thanks
Your keychain is stored in ~/Library/Keychains
That is, in the Library/Keychains that's off of your home folder. The default keychain you get when you log in is stored with your short name, and when you log in to the machine, it's opened with your password.
If you copy that file to the new machine (and use the same login password on both), you'll get everything on the new machine. If you need to synchronize keychains between machines, it's easiest to create a new keychain (via the Keychain utility -- in Apps/Utilities), and copy (what is it, option or control-drag... double check and look for the green + sign) to that keychain, and copy it back and forth.
Or wait for Tiger, which will include keychain synchronizing across machines via .Mac (I'm sure in some secure fashion

)
