I came across this today http://www.gartner.com/DisplayDocument?doc_cd=126957
and unfortunately most Enterprise Windoze shops take gartner as gospell, this is not a call for un solisited e-mail, but for a well crafted letter to edificate the author.
Any takers?

Gartner's not saying anything new or novel; they're just echoing Symantec's FUD, which has been thoroughly discussed here and elsewhere. Gartner's Analysis claims that Spyware, although virtually unseen on the Mac, could be seen in the future. Well, most anything could happen in the future, so that guidance really is not very substantive. I don't think this advisory is much of a problem - it's not like Windowze Enterprise weenies will ever care about the Mac.

It's not really FUD. They have a point. Don't assume that security through obscurity will protect you. It won't.

I don't see what needs clearing up. The information in that article is all accurate, as far as I can tell.
