You should have 10.3.8 if you have run Software Update since you've started using your computer. However, you can find out by going to the Apple menu and choosing "About This Mac".

If the version you see is a version of Mac OS X earlier than 10.3.8, you can correct this by choosing "Software Update..." from the Apple menu.

Panther is 10.3.x . That is the current operating system, and that is what your Mac Mini has. The 'x' is whatever update they are on. 10.3.8 is current.

The next operating system will be Tiger. It is 10.4.x.

Didn't the CD's mention the version? Or even the manual?

Cheetah = 10.0
Puma = 10.1
Jaguar = 10.2
Panther = 10.3
Tiger = 10.4 (Unreleased)

Mac minis come with Panther installed (10.3.7 by default if I'm not mistaken). The current version is 10.3.8.

Safari is not a version of OS X, it is a web browser.
