I just found this program last night and saved over a gigabyte of hard drive space on all of my machines after removing every localization but English. For my older machines, the extra space is precious.

So if there's anyone who didn't know how to remove the localizations or had OS X out of the box, give DeLocalizer a try.

I saved 1087 MB on my PowerBook G4 (60 GB HD), 945 MB on my G3 iBook (15 GB drive), and 689 MB on my blueberry (6 GB HD).

I use Monolingual and use it after any OS X update or new program. Runs well. Haven't tried DeLocalizer, though.

I've used DeLocalizer for years now and it's always done what's it's supposed to, nothing more and nothing less. Great app.

Hmmm, good to hear about the reliability of such programs. I've done the getting rid of localizations manually on a couple of installs. It gets boring, especially when you get past the few really big ones, but it feels good to be saving space anyway.

Do these apps get rid of all of those ones in the System folders as well, i.e. do you give it administrator access to delete those? There are a lot in there.

Worth pointing out that this is 'American' English only however..
The worst thing about having a failing memory is..... no, it's gone.

I guess you could call it delocaliser then. Not sure what you mean. American English is Apple's default language. But you can pick and choose which "localisations" you wish to keep, such as British English or Aussie English.

You know the same thing can be achieved by a single find command in Terminal?

Worse than that, DeLocalizer uses a naïve method of gaining the privileges needed which results in your password being displayed when a ps is run?

Having said all that, it does do the job.
