Dear users,
Would you be kind enough, if you have any idea, to tell me what version of panther do you get when you buy 10.3 as a retail box version, at this present time.
Is it 10.3.0 or 10.3.+ something ?
Why this stupid question? Because I plan to get Tiger but would be keen to wait an extra 3 or 4 months in order to get 10.4.+ something, which would be further improved and could discard me from big downloads when I'll have to set up several of my computers in the following months.
Well, thanks to let me know if you have any idea about the retail version umber of Panther at this time.

As of last week at the Apple Store here in Columbus, they still had 10.3.5 in retail boxes.

You only have to do the large download once--even for multiple machines. You either download the disk image from Apple's website, or you install & save, instead of just install. With 10.4 Server, you could also set up a Software Update proxy server, which would save download time.

All you really need are the pkg files. Even with a dial-up connection, it's not that hard to get them. If you know someone with a broadband connection, they can download the big ones and burn them to CD.
