I use Apple at home and Windows at work. I need to export all of the contacts in my address book to a usb drive or other media to import into Outlook exchange on my laptop. I have created a folder on my desktop for this purpose. Unfortunately I can only drag and drop one card at a time. I have 500 contacts, thus making this a cumbersome process. Does anyone know of a better method?
TIA

Does Outlook understand group vCards? If so, you can click on a group (or the "All" item) in the Address Book, then use the "File" menu's command to "Export Group vCard".
Similarly, if you don't have a group that's suitable for the export list (and don't want to create one), you can select several people in the Address Book simultaneously, and export them all to one single vCard.

Thanks so much. I tried this method but Outllok exchange will only recognize the first card in the "all" group.
Any other ideas?
TIA

I think some others have used programs like Eudora or something else that stores contacts. (I don't use them but you may be able to do a search).
I asked our IT guys at work how to do this and they didn't know of any. I ended up having to save and close over 1500 contact windows. Outlook sucks.
You can't even have Outlook send more than one vcard at a time. Gawd. How does anyone really put up with Outlook?

I did the same thing about a year ago except with vcard files from another PC version of express. I could only get it to import them one card per address, couldn't figure out a way around it. Even with vcards from outlook itself this was the only way to get them to another PC.
I think I was able to drag and drop the whole folder full of vcards in at once though. Try dragging them into different places, like the address book window.
You can drag vcards out of the outlook address book all at once too if I remember right.

This doesn't solve your problem but it is a workaround. If you have .Mac, you can sync your Address Book, then access them from a peecee via .Mac. same with bookmarks and iCal entries.

Ideally, this would be an ideal opportunity for AppleScript on the Mac and VBA on the PC. One could use AppleScript to run through the records and export each one as a vcard, and then make a VBA macro in Outlook to import all the vcards one by one from a folder.

Unfortunately, the only was I could do this was one by one. I had to drag and drop to a USB drive, transfer to the laptop, open each contact and then save.
Thanks for all of the ideas on this matter. Gotta love the quantity and quality of information this group provides.
