After starting up my G5 all my user information is wiped out. Everything on my desktop is gone. What happened and how can I get it back?

You probably turned on FileVault, and if that is the case, there are instructions in various places online on how to access your encrypted home folder and get your Mac back to normal. I must admit that I have zero experience with FileVault, so I don't exactly know what specific instructions to provide.
