Hi all,

I was wondering if any of you running Tiger betas have any experience running Fink under Tiger? Does it work in its current iteration or will I have to wait for a "Fink" update to make it Tiger compatible?

Thanks,

elfer

It would still violate any NDAs to say whether or not Fink would run.

This said, Fink is just a package manager; it doesn't attempt to alter a running OS in any way. It did not break in Panther, and it is unlikely to break in Tiger. Individual packages might break, but it should be able to fix those packages by simply reinstalling them.
You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

Thank you for the info.

I guess I was thinking that I had read of Fink problem when OS X had some 'dot' releases. So since this a 'full' release I assumed that it may make Fink not work. You are right though; Fink and Fink Commander will probably work. Now, actually starting a Gnome desktop and running apps may "not" work.

I guess we'll have to wait and see once Tiger is released to see if this will still work for me.

Thanks,

elfer

---->Guess we need an update.

Thanks for the info. Did you do an upgrade of the OS or a fresh install?
