Yesterday I attempted to upgrade 10.3 to the latest 10.3.9, but the installer said no can do, so I figured if I got and installed 10.3.1 that it should work. So I proceeded then tried installing 10.3.9 but after double clicking the .dmg I got an error message, however I've just noticed that Disk Copy is absent from my Utilities Folder ???

How can this be ?

Does this mean I'll have to start all over again ?

Disk Copy doesn't exist in Panther. Its responsibilities have been divided between Disk Utility and the background DiskImageMounter.

You need the 10.3.9 Combo updater.

Well there was no way that I could get the 10.3.9 file via Software updater due to my dial up connection, so I downloaded the file from Apple's panther site. Double clicking it gives me the same error -536870208 ???

Interested to know why the Software Update file is 117 meg while the file at Apple is half that size.

Also since posting here I went and got another freeware app a .dmg file and still no joy

And as the download page for the 10.3.9 updater says, you need to have 10.3.8 to install it. The reason the Software Update version is larger is that it is a combo updater. I can't find any download link for a 10.3.9 client combo updater on Apple's site, though.

Thanks Chuckit I'll give it a go
But Jacke My ISP dial up connection automatically cuts out after each 4 hour session therefore 62 -65 meg file is all I can manage to get in one session. I need something like what Apple has done for System 9.2.1 upgraders - its diivded into four separate downloads.
I have in the recent past tried to pause a large file download and then recommence after reconnecting the result is always a corrupted file. So I guess I'll have to start saving my pennies for Tiger !

Software Update should be able to resume partial file downloads as of 10.2 or 10.3 (I forget which).
