I installed tiger, and for some reason , it got rid of all my ip addresses and all my info to get online, it was a pain fixing it...Also candy bar doesnt work in tiger, but they said they will release a new version in about 2 weeks ? it sucks it doesnt work, and since i had other icons loaded on my comp, i cant see the icons that tiger comes with because candy bar wont open!

Might have been coincidence (my cable system was exhibiting some wonkyness at the time), but upon reboot after installing Tiger on my iBook my wireless network was unavailable, too.

After noticing no AirPort signal & no network detected on my other Macs, I rebooted my cable modem+AirPort Express and the AirPort cards on each Mac. Happily, my wireless network reappeared in the menu and all was good again.

There is an update already to CandyBar for Tiger. About the network settings, I'm unsure of what happened as doing an upgrade or archive and install should preserve the settings.

i was really worried about this , after having problems with going from jaguar to panther

but my fears were unfounded !

it went like a breeze , ive now got 2 macs on airport and it's amazing

imo tiger is even more stable than panther and a lot easier to install !!!

I am using a Microsoft router. Powerbook worked fine wireless. PC worked fine ethernet. But, iMac simply would not get an ip address no matter what I tried. I tried everything. Finally, I read something about having a computer name that is too long in the sharing preferences. So, I shortened the name and within seconds, I had my connection back on the iMac. Interesting....

Thanks. I've been pulling my hair out all morning. Right now I've got Panther on the internal drive of my PB and was using a firewire drive to test Tiger. Both worked fine at home with my Airport Express.

Today I come to the local coffeeshop and Panther works fine but Tiger won't get a DHCP address. I can make Tiger work by manually specifying the IP settings but not with DHCP. I found this post, shortened my computer name and now it works. This looks like a Tiger bug with (some? all?) non Apple wireless routers. They have a DLink 624 at the coffee shop.

Thank you. I was pounding my head on against the wall all day long trying to get connected. I shortened my computer name, and was INSTANTLY online. If I ever win lotto, I'm sharing it with you.
