My 12" Powerbook G4 decided to come up with a flashing question mark yesterday. Reset the NVRAM and the PMU, no joy. Booted from the OS cd, did a disk repair and now the system is booting. However, now I have a battery with an X, bluetooth with an X and my Airport card won't start. If I go to System Profiler, it doesn't show any hardware at all...none. The hardware list is completely missing.

I'm completely stumped. Anyone have any ideas? I'm about ready to do an archive and install but I'd really like to see if I can figure this out first. If I can get by a few more days, I'll just get Tiger and install that.

Thoughts?

Well, I went ahead with an archive and install. My battery and bluetooth are back now, but my airport card still won't start. The system sees the card and it shows up in system profiler, but simply won't turn on.

Any ideas?

This seemed to do the trick:

sudo ifconfig en1 up
