I'm having some crazy issues with my powerbook the past couple days. It's a long story, but I wanna make sure I don't leave any important detail out. I had been having some problems with uninstalling and installing software. I was told that I had lost my admin privileges (although in "Accounts" it still had "Admin" under my account.) After repairing permissions, repair disk, etc, didn't work, I was told by a friend that to fix it you go in the install CD and reset my password. Well, I accidently changed root's password. Not a big deal I thought, till I went back later, and the root account no longer existed. I foolishly tried that with my own account, and now it's disappeared. The files are still there, but locked up. However, my account, nor root show up in NetInfo. Now I've realized the advice I got was probably ill-advised. Is there anyway to recover my data? Better yet, is there any way to FIX the problem without reinstalling?
