Sorry if this is the wrong forum to ask this in, but, like many here, I've received my boxed Tiger copy, and installed it right away. On my Sawtooth G4, everything seems to be running ok. (Although, I haven't used it enough to tell)

However, on my G4 Powerbook, there is an application named "mds" which is owned by root that is running, using 100% of my CPU time for about 5 minutes at a time, then it takes about 2 minutes off. Using Activity Monitor, I can determine that the process is launched through "launchd", but I cannot figure out what it is doing, or even what it is...

I've kill -9'd the app, but it comes right back up. I've read the launchd man page, and I was given some nice hints on the XML files it uses to start the apps, but it doesn't appear that any app there is named mds.

Thanks for all of your help!
