Normally I wouldn't bother to ask a question like this but I'll be away when I receive Tiger (at a relative's house). Being that my uncle as dial-up (yuk!) and I don't have an account with any dial up service, can I install Tiger without having it registered? If not I'll either be hunting down someone with a broadband connection or waiting until I get home. I'm sure I'll get my answer when it arrives but I just wanted to see if I could get an answer in advance so I know what to expect.

I tried not to post this question by doing a few searches, but couldn't find what I was looking for.

You don't need to connect to the Internet. OS X isn't like Windows where you need to activate the operating system. I am guessing that is what you are talking about. Also, I have never registered any of my Mac operating systems. It isn't a requirement.

Usually, if you aren't connected to the net when you install, the system will place a register icon on the desktop the next time you start up that logs on and registers when you do get connected. You can of course just delete the icon and not register, but quite frankly, I prefer to register. That way you get letters from lawyers when someone files a class action lawsuit against Apple, and you get a whopping $3 for participating as a plaintiff! :-)

Thanks a lot discotronic and MacDog! You both answered my question and it's very much appreciated!
