Two dear friends who have purchased the family pack for Tiger have an iBook and PowerBook with no built-in DVD drives. While they are Mac faithful, through and through, they are not geeks and rely on me to keep their systems running smoothly. If I connect an external FireWire DVD to the these 'Books, will Tiger install properly?

If anyone can answer this I'd really appreciate it. They'll be pretty annoyed by having to go through the CD exchange headache.

TIA

Connect them to a Mac with a DVD drive with a firewire cable and start them up in target mode. They will appear as firewire drives that you can install Tiger on.

Cool. Thanks, Ronnie. I wasn't sure if that was a viable option. Glad to hear it works.

Little do my friends know that I'll be installing Tiger on their Macs first and using them as guinea pigs before I load it onto my precious Macs.

Mmmwahahaha

I just installed Tiger on a Lacie external DVD with NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. I just installed the disk, clicked the Install Icon, and away I went. Works perfect.
