In preparation for Tiger, I'm cleaning out files and trying to get everything shipshape. I installed a new internal drive several months ago, going from 120 GB from 20. Before that, I had had to store many things on an external HD, including many things from the land of OS9, such as PageMaker documents and the PageMaker 6.5 application itself.

Now that I have space, I'd like to have all my "first copies" of things on the internal, then back up to an external. (I have more than one.)

But when I try to copy things back over, I get an error message, telling me "some data in ".DS_Store" could not be read or written (error code -36).

I can't remember how I got the stuff on the external to begin with, as that happened at least a year ago. But how do I get it back? I'm wondering if I have to do some sort of formal backup of just that folder and then re-back it up to the main drive. Haven't tried that yet, obviously. I have both Chronosync, plus .mac, so either of those is an option.

My computer still boots into OS9, and I have things I still use, albeit very infrequently.

Thanks in advance.

Permissions problem. Solved. Never mind.
