Hi everyone. I haven't been on the forum here for a while, but here's little website for anyone that misses the countdown timer Apple had for the Panther release last year...

Tiger Countdown Website

P.S. Works perfectly in Safari, a little flaky in Firefox, and not at all in most other browsers.

Same here,
I pre-ordered my Tiger, and usually Fed Ex comes early for me. Hopefully I will get it early afternoon so I can head down to the Apple store near me and check out the events and gloat about having it already

Nice. Works in IE on Windows , although the time box isn't centred on the X. Now I've just got to meet the challenge of working with that in the background.

Oh well, I guess, a watched countdown never ends, so perhaps I'd better work! Mind you, if this lawsuit mentioned on the news pages comes off, the countdown may never end .

I know the counter part actually does, but it doesn't display correctly. Here, I posted a screenshot so all the folks stuck in Internet Explorer can know what they're missing...

It's probably possible to debug this for IE, and replace the advanced opacity property of CSS (which IE doesn't support) with an image, but I'm too busy; and I don't really care.

By the way... MY COUNTER is accurate... your counter is off by 3 hours... I'm going by 6PM APPLE TIME. You're going by Eastern time I believe.

*EDIT* Although... I have to admit... your counter is much nicer looking than mine. Hehe.

The picture of the tiger in the second is very nice, but the TigerPRO's goes by the system time - thus mine is down to just 2300 seconds!

I think it might be almost time to go and see if there's a queue to stand in. Here's to the end of the long two weeks since announcement.

And now that counter is down to almost 1000 seconds.

Nah, it's all cool. Where did you get that nice tiger picture? Did you know your code is actually counting down to 15:00? I though the Apple event started at 18:00? Yeah, system time stinks. But at least you have to worry about multiple time zone issues.

What about the number of days? I would like to know what to do in order to add days to the countdown. (I'm trying to learn JavaScript)

Actually, yours is inaccurate. Tiger here comes out at 6PM Eastern. Yours is set for 3PM EST. At least the TigerPro one accounts for local time.

I'm gonna open it and leave it up on my iBook. With seconds running so I can watch it count down to the final second. Only 43,975 seconds left!

I got my version about 6 hours ago. Being the pleb I am, still in its box unopened. Maybe in the next few days I might install it, but no great rush, eh?

Well, my timer must have run to 0 although I didn't see it . I arrived at 17:40 expecting a queue outside but the shop wasn't actually closed - nice as it was quite cold out there. We all got little pen-light 'spotlight' freebies - nice, but not quite as good as the t-shirt with Panther. The salespeople had dashboard t-shirts on - 'Where there's a widget, there's a way.' Nice.

And now I'm all clean installed, with all going well, and really feeling for you guys with countdowns still in progress .
