I installed Tiger on my Sawtooth and everything was great...so I installed on my iBook. Everything went great until I rebooted and logged in. After logging in the desktop picture showed up and then that was it. I tried leaving it alone for 30minutes and still nothing. After several reboots and fsck -fy still the same problem. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Sounds to me like some type of software conflict, did you upgrade from panther or install fresh?

funnily enough my ibook 700 would not startup after an install of tiger unless i had the power cord in, it would powerdown on grey screen - even though i had a full battery.

unfortunately, this doesnt sounds similar to your problem!

I had the power cord plugged in the whole time. I'm at work right now but when I get home I think I'll try to reset pram a couple of times. That's the only thing I can think of to do short of erase and install. Of course I'll lose my Home directory and my settings, Apps, etc.

I had a similar problem with my iBook G3 800
I found out (still not sure how/why) that the latest official Adium somehow made my Mac freeze/Kernel panic. I would suggest that you make a clean install in this case (backup your data before).
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I didn't have any Adium software on my iBook. Nevertheless clean install seems like the best answer.

Thanks
