Like many of you, I'm looking forward to installing Tiger some time in the next few weeks. However, as the owner of an unaccelerated G4/400 Sawtooth I'm interested to see how I'll hold up under the new system. I've upgraded my memory, hdd and vid to a flashed GF2 (so I can run QE in Jag). Apart from occasional pokiness it's more than adequate for surfing/iphoto/itunes etc... In fact, I often prefer it to my 1.8ghz P4 work laptop.

For those of you who are running Tiger on older (for the sake of argument, let's say G3 or G4 at <800mhz) or even "unsupport" (non-FW) machines, how are things working out? Has the upgrade increased or decreased your system's usability? Any suggestions for optimizing Tiger on your "ancient" hardware (apart from the usual memory/vid/accelerator suggestions)? Do you prefer Tiger to Jag?

Well, I placed Tiger on a first generation TiBook G4-400 and it is running fine for me. Starts up faster, login is faster, spotlight works fine, so does dashboard. System responsiveness is slightly better than 10.3. Overall, a better experience.

Same here. Powerbook G4/500, 756RAM. Especially boot times. Of course, we don't have any "ripple" effects with dashboard...
