I finally got Tiger today from FED EX, I installed (clean and install) the 10.4..

I'm using iMac G5 1.8 Ghz.. When I tried to connect my friend 1 on 1 iSight, it wont work.. It said "Due of insufficent bandwidth" !!!!

I went to iChat>Preference>Video and set Speed: none

Still no luck! Anyone out there have the same expereince?? few of my friends are experiencing the same errors.

what should I do?? Wait for the update or what? Help?

Did you try messing with the bandwidth in iChat?

hmmm I'm not going to be home this weekend but if you want I'd be more than willing to try with you. I'm using a Dual 800 Quicksilver so it would be a nice test. I'll be home probably sunday sometime. Unless you find someone to test it with you or are able to figure it out I'll pm you with my AIM screenname if you wan to test it out.

I've been able to Video chat with a Panther user just fine, but I'm 0-for-1 in the Tiger to Tiger video chat area (Matt OS X's computer).

I called to the Support Care about iChat/iSight A/V and talked wtih a software representative. He was trying to help me.

I told him that I'm using Airport Extreme Base Station. Then, the next thing, he said "I'm sorry to inform you that the Airport is 54 MBPS while 1 on 1 ichat A/V requires 100 KBPS, so it doesn't work. I'm sorry to inform you about it."

I was like "What a joke!" and looked up this chart provided by apple:

So this is alittle confusing.. I disconnected airport and set up a direct connection from cable modem to my iMac G5. Nothing seems to work with iSight when I tried to connect with Stecchino.

I'm hoping that it's a bug or what? Could be my ISP??????

Um...54 Mbps is five HUNDRED TIMES the 100Kbps necessary.

Assuming it worked in Panther:

Have you checked your firewall settings? Deactivating firewall in System Preferences --> Sharing?

I know that's what I'm trying to say. if Airport isn't the issue.. then why the "insufficent bandwidth" always appears when I failed to connect 1 on 1 with another iSight user?

BTW, my firewall is off in system preference>sharing

I have an iMac g5 1.6ghz, cable line connected, i tried to connect to a windows user ona 1-1 video chat, and it said starting chat... then nothing ever happened. Is it that they're on windows or is something messed up I can fix?

I have no idea if this would matter, but did you install the iSight firmware update that came out earlier this month? (I think it was 1.0.3.) Maybe the firmware needs to be current for Tiger.

54Mb/s > 100Kb/s
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.
