As well as all my mail disappearing, Mail.app has to be forced quit.

How did you guys install?

If you've got a backup, just put the ~/Library/Mail folder back, and the com.apple.mail.plist file into ~/Library/Preferences/ and everything should be fine.

I've Tiger'ised a few computers now, my own and others, and I've had zero problems with Mail. Superb app imho.

I used archive and preserve settings. The "import" function on the file menu in Mail is grayed out. I sent a test email and it disappeared, it wasn't stored in "sent". I had to retrieve it with Thunderbird.

Sounds like maybe you are using httpmail to access your hotmail.

You need to disable it par the instructions that came with it, and unfortunately live without it until a Tiger-ized version is released.

I deleted comp.apple.mail.plist in my user preference file, and now Mail seems to be working. I am importing from Mail.app 1 etc.

That'd be the file that httpmail tinkers with.

Where you using it, or did something else mess yours up?

I don't know. I was just hoping to trash the Mail.app prefs. Whatever it was, it was like starting Mail.app 2 for the first time.

That was it!

Silly me. took it out of ~/Library/Mail/Bundles

and all is well (importing; it didn't last time).
