Anyone try this yet?

Cause my 12" 1.33 PowerBook isn't showing the option for my external 20".

Maybe my crap GPU can't do it?

Heh, well, that makes the pref go all slow and weird as it drops in, but still no option.

Does this do what it sounds like? Does it actually rotate the display?

All as artificial as the Matrix itself, although only a human mind could invent something as insipid as Love.

spotlight works. type in rotate in system prefs and it will direct you to the tab or tell you why you can't use it.

for me "the geometry tab of Displays preferance is hidden because this display does not have geometry controls."

I have also tried all the previous key combos and nothing works. I suspect that my powebook is simply not supported. I also get the "geometry error" that jyunderwood pointed out. I really hope this is just a sofware issue that can be addressed and not a limitation of the GeForce FX Go5200 w/32 megs in my powerbook. I have a 12" powerbook 1ghz with attached to external syncmaster 173t. If anyone with this setup or simlar gets the portrait mode working please let me know.

Can't wait for someone to hack it. I would love to prop a PowerBook on its side and use external peripherals with it.

Works without any key combinations for me - both my 20" Studio and my VP191b show the option (though only the VP191b actually rotates). Radeon 9800XT.

I can't seem to find any consistency in who can or who can't access the display rotation.

My DP2.5GHz G5 with a Radeon X800XT (connected to a Dell 2001FP) does not show any display rotation options, no matter what modifier keys I hold down while opening the Displays control panel. There's nothing in Tiger's Help files, either.

(Tiger installed via Archive & Install, if that matters)

I can rotate with the ATI control panel... but why do some have it as an option in Displays???
