I'm worried about installing Tiger now due to all the reports of bugs and the like.

This thread is for those of you who are happy with the upgrade and haven't run into any significant problems.

Let's have some balance here.

Thanks!

I'm happy, though I've had a few unfortunate problems with Dashboard and trying out 3rd party widgets. One time led to a kernel panic, while the others merely caused errors with a specific widget or with the entire Dashboard layer.

Tiger is the first upgrade that I'm thrilled with. I was underwhelmed after the last two, but I love the new Mail, can't wait to play around more with Spotlight and Dashboard... And am really looking forward to some free time to dig around and experiment with Smart Folders/Smart Mailboxes. This update leaves a lot to be happy about.

Loving it here. No problems noted so far. Feels very responsive and the new features are fun to play with. Only complaint is Mail has the ugliest buttons ever.

Tiger is great here. Did a simple upgrade after making sure that I backed up first. Haven't found any problems yet. All seems faster on my 867 PB.

Since I installed all the betas, who is afraid of a GM. It fixed a few issues I had in 8a425, so I am glad I did.

I am very happy with Tiger so far. The ability to do a search in a Open/Save dialog window is going to save me so much time, it will easily pay for itself over the next year or so, until 10.5 comes, with that one feature alone.

ACLs, instant Finder updating and a lot more.

I'm happy. No bugs/crashes with my simple upgrade - MS Office 2004 apps, Adobe CS apps, Alchemy DVR all work fine. The Samsung laser, Canon LIDE, and USB 2.0 card work fine too.

GUI seems sluggish/less responsive on my MDD G4 1.25 (Radeon 9800 Pro 128). However, the slowness can apparently be fixed by doing a clean or archive install.

Otherwise, a great upgrade.

Well, I whined about late shipping -- but it arrived on time. Then I complained about the length of time of the install, then I realized that I had chosen to synch the idisk and .mac at the same time. Once I disabled these "choices" everything was perfect. The only hiccup was one dashboard applet that I downloaded that didn't work.

Once I deleted that, all was perfect.

It is still perfect.

I am on a 17 inch powerbook, and I do note that the fan is on a lot more than it used to be pre-upgrade, however.

Installed without a hitch. Love the new features ... particularly Spotlight and Dashboard. Love the performance of Safari. Enjoying the new functionality in Mail but I am definitely "so so" about the new look. It is certainly true that each release of OS X gets faster. Tiger definitely continues this trend.

Overall .... Tiger is just "butta".

For the first time, my computer is really showing its age. The "HD Gallery" movies are too herky-jerky to be watchable. Other'n that, it's a nice update. The bugs are just the price of living on the bleeding edge, and Quicksilver was actually a little faster than Spotlight at opening apps for me, but I appreciate all the extras that come with Spotlight.

The RSS screen saver is really cool.

no problems on a powerbook 12" 867MHz with 640MB RAM.
Everything runs well. I did an erase install, then added back what I need.
Also did an upgrade on an ibook 700 w/ 384MB RAM and it is running well too.

I have to say overall I think it's great. It does need a .1 update to squash some bugs, but overall an excellent OS.

Running a dual 2.5 G5, 1.5 RAM, 6800 GT, very happy with it. Backed up my stuff, then did a clean install. Brought my data back and the spotlight index worked as it should and didn't take to long considering it was 35 gigs of data. Overall I love 10.4 and don't miss 10.3, I'm sure any quirky issues will be taken care of quickly but I am very happy and would recommend it to friends... and have lol.

Getting everything updated and tweaked to my liking took a little while.
I've had some issues with Mail, which have been resolved, and found that other things, like my Airport performance, were greatly improved.

Thy only remaining issue I still have is some weirdness with .Mac syncing between my 2 Macs. But once all the conflicts are dealt with all should be well.

9.5 out of 10 - with .5 lost because it freaked me out when I thought I lost all the data on my fiancé's iBook (I didn't)

i love it so very much.
my powerbook is deffinatly much snappier and i love all the new features.
it definatly seems that any bug is a slight annoyance but doesnt even begin to deteriorate from the overall picture.
beware it does really tax the system while indexing on spotlight, but that only took me like 15 minutes and now everything runs beautifully.

Overall - I am pleased. Pleased with the snappiness. Scrolling, app switching are all faster making for a better user experience. Additionally, the CPU usage at idle has been reduced - spikes in CPU use are much smaller - for example Itunes visualizer would peak at 60 fps then fall the 30 if the mail would be checked in the background. This does not happen- it maintains a steady 50-60 fps now whether this is the result of better threading or just a reduction overall CPU interactions needed by programs I'm not sure. It should only get better from here with updates (10.4.1 in May?)

The bad: I cant get Apples poor anti-aliasing taken off.

My only problem is the PB doesn't automatically join the network upon waking from sleep. Others are having the same thing; I assume it will be fixed relatively soon.

Other than that, one of the smoothest upgrades ever. I still have a LOT of playing around to do, and I think I'm going to change the spotlight trigger, because I think I like launchbar better. I don't want to go too crazy, though, because I think you need to give things a chance. One of my kids loves the widgets. And I want to play around a lot more with mail.

A friend loaned me a Tiger book, and I'm looking through that, too, for some hints on what's changed and how to make things work better for me.

Works great for me. I've discovered a couple of bugs already (mainly in CoreImage), but nothing that would have changed my mind about buying it.

Im somewhat happy, I expect a lot of fixes and de-bugs however over the next few months...

For example the language translator is very buggy, it's hard to cut and paste text into it, it seems to truncate if you paste a large paragraph, etc..

there are a few other items, but I'm sure their working on them
Mac Pro 3.0, ATI 5770 1GB VRAM, 10GB, 2xVelociraptor boot RAID, 4.5TB RAID0 storage, 30" & 20" Apple displays.

iMac 17" Core Duo 1GB RAM, & 2 iPhones 8GB, and a Nano in a pear tree!

It's not a bug. The translator widget is limited to 40 words at a time.

This is the best OS X upgrade experience I've had.

10.0 --> 10.1 was a big improvement, but only because 10.0 was so weak.
10.1 --> 10.2 was a nice improvement, but not hugely impressive (at least as memory serves)
10.2 --> 10.3 was great, but it seemed like I remember some large-ish issues, things that weren't really working correctly till the point updates.
10.3 --> 10.4 was practically flawless. I have a few settings still to restore after doing an Archive & Install. And I had a brief scare about incompatibility with my grade book software for my job as a high school teacher. But other than that, it's been a very smooth transition. And Spotlight is an ENORMOUS addition. Dashboard is cool, but mostly eye candy for now (I imagine it will only get better as more innovative widgets are developed).

Go for it. After backing up your data first, of course.

By the technical definition of "Bug", yes then if it's indeed limited to 40 words, its not a bug... but it is wholly unacceptable then.. 400 words maybe..

Me me me me me! I'm happy with Tiger, on both my PowerBook and Mac Mini. Bit dissapointed that my PowerBook (17", 1.5GHz) can't play the new H.264 trailers too well; maybe QuickTime will start using the GPU for video processing later on? Apart from that, no problems that i've noticed. I did a clean install from an empty hard drive.

I installed on my G5 - I had just put in a 2nd drive so I installed fresh on that, leaving my 10.3.x intact.

So far it is great....I notice a very big speed improvement, especially starting up. I've a few pro-audio apps that need updates/patches but they're coming in the next week or so...no big problem as I will be away on vacation anyway.

Tonight I will install on the Powerbook.....(yes, I bought the family pack)

I strongly agree with this. Seems like the previous paid updates, while solid, always had a few issues that needed a .1 update or two. Tiger seems very smooth and solid. And faster. We have installed it on an iMac G5, 12" PB 867 and will be updating our iMac 400 the next few days.

Tiger feels like the first true Mac-like version of OS X.

I'm somewhat happy with Tiger. The problem is its over $100. It just feels like a $60 upgrade thats all. Seems just like a few app upgrades. 10.3 was very good. But is 10.4 worth the $129 upgrade.

I would've paid $60.00 just for the dictionary.

That said, I've run a simple upgrade on my Powerbook, and all is going well, so far. Logic 6.4 is functioning, which was my main concern, but I'm going to take it slow as far as my G5 & work machines go.
