I cannot guide the Finder slideshow feature to work. I have tried selecting different number of image files, right clicking and selecting Slideshow, and nothing happens. I did a search of help, which mentions a slideshow from Spotlight, so I did a spotlight search, selected the images, right clicked and selected Slideshow, and the slideshow runs.

What am I missing here? Why does it work from Spotlight, but not regular Finder windows?

You could try whether there is any message in Console.app or any crashlog in in ~/Library/Crashes (if Slideshow runs as a separate process – does anybody know whether it does?)

No luck with either. Nothing in the console about it and the crashes folder is non-existent, which I take to mean there have been no crashes.

Well, I relaunched the Finder and now it works. Go figure...

The only problem I have with the slideshow feature from the finder is that there is no pre-set order for the images. They are sorted randomly. I just tried it with a folder of images of a trip and they were not shown in cronological order. I did a "Select All", the ctrl-click on one of them an selected slide show. They were sorted randomly! In fact if you exit the slide show and ctrl-click on the same image and select Slide Show, it will be in a different order as before!!!

Is there anyway to specify the length of time between images?

The Slideshow part within mail pretty much always freezes my computer. I have to do a hard reset inorder to get it working again.
