A lot of downloaded software and stuff comes in .bin and .hqx.

Stuffit you have to dl some spamware, so, screw that.

What are the people using to open compressed files?

[edit to avoid bumping] I tried to copy Expander from my G5 to my mini. It needed more files.

It's a bad idea to not include Expander in 10.4. A lot of files still download as .bin or .hqx.

10.4 is a nice upgrade under the hood and I got my copy with my mini, but for $119 or whatever, Apple should give us what we need to use 10,4 out of the box. That includes the ability to deal with these "rogue" file types.

Sorry playa.

I'm using google, I'm surfing websites. If it's here or buried somewhere in some thread, I missed it.

Howabout instead of crying, post up a link to the answer chief.

Just go to MacUpdate and search for StuffIt. They have a direct download link which you can use to get StuffIt without having to sign up for spam.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
