Is this a "feature"?

I have idisk to sync to my .mac account automatically. I do this because I know one of these days I forget to do it manually and I'll lose something...

Anyway, ocassionally idisk decides it want to re-sync everything at once instead of gradually-leaving files in my "local copy" on the desk top inaccessible for long periods of time until it's finished.

First, is this normal, and second, is there a way to not let it do this. I have lost valuable working time waiting for a file to show up in the folder.

Thanks
Mark
