But not under "Accounts" in "System Preferences"? How do I get rid of it? This didn't happen in 10.3. Also, Tiger is nice but not as signinificant as the Panther. Money well spent none the less I think.

I believe that when we installed ClamXAv, it estblished itself as a "user" without a home folder. This fooled Tiger. The way to b=get rid of it was to run the Netinfo manager and delete the "user". there have been no problems since then.

This is most certainly NOT the best way to "get rid" of it. ARGH :-/

clamav installs a user so it can run with a different (restricted) permissions model. If you delete the user, clamav is going to have to run as some other user (or perhaps it won't run at all).

The issue with it showing up in login is because 10.3 used to "hide" users with IDs below 500. Tiger does not. There's a plist somewhere that lets you specify which users are hidden, unfortunately I don't recall what it is.

But your suggestion is the reason things break down the line, and you'll blame Apple and OS X, when in reality you're really screwing things up by deleting users in NetInfo manager when you don't understand what they do. Here's a tip: Delete user 'www' and then try and run a web site. Bad eh?

Download the latest version, and it won't show up.
