OK, I have a G4 1GHz 17" iMac. I did an erase and install of Tiger, worked great. I put my original iMac DVD in so I could restore my Apps that originally came with my computer as well as my classic support, I installed the Software Restore program, but when I insert the disc to restore, it never recognizes that it is in the drive. Any ideas?
Thanks

There is only 1 DVD that came with my iMac. The one I try is also the one that the restore program is asking for (ie it has the picture on it that is the same in the restore program).

You would need to use your restore disc first and then upgrade to Tiger.

Why is that? I am not trying to restore the system. The option I am clicking on is Applications and Classic support. This should work, I did it with an eMac at school no problem. I am just wondering if I have an older Software Restore program??

I have a similar problem.

After installing Tiger from scratch, I found out there was no Classic.

After looking around in Apple website, I took my Restore CD (PB G4 12 1 Ghz).

Half the time, the installer for Software restore seems locked in search for a suitable drive (they all show up but are grayed out).

ONce I was able to install Software Restore, but when I try using it, it keeps asking for the Restore CD but can't see it in the drive (although it sees it in the Finder).

Any ideas?
