Ugh, was having serious issues with Divx compression in Quicktime7 (Tiger) so I trashed it, hoping to reinstall. Emptied the trash, now there appears to be no way to get it back

I can download 7 from Apple.com but it can only be installed on systems 10.3.9 or earlier. Anything I can do to reinstall it, or do I need to reinstall Tiger to get this back?? Why don't they have this for download from the site for Tiger users?

There's no download on the Apple site for Tiger users because Tiger comes with QuickTime 7 and they presume you won't go deleting things you want. You hardly expect a seperate download for Mail in case you trash it do you?

Assuming you just deleted the QuickTime Player application (not the rest of QuickTime which lives in /System/Library/Frameworks/QuickTime.framework - DON'T TOUCH the framework) using Pacifist to extract the QuickTime Player application is the easiest way for you.

The only other method is to do a reinstall to restore it.

Thanks for the reply - guess that makes sense.

What file am I looking for to open the package w/ Pacifist? I can't seem to find it within the Quicktime.framework folder.

Thanks.

Everyone always says use Pacifist... but Apple doesn't seem to have separate packages for every app... least not that I can see...

Likewise - no package files to be seen anywhere. Guess I'm in for a reinstall
