I downloaded a bunch of widgets only to find out that I didn't like some of them. I tried deleting them from the widget bar by control-click but they won't go away. Do they stay on the HD permanently after download? Help

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Seems to me like there should be a way to do this from the Dashboard UI. A control-click on a widget in the dashboard tray should at a minimum display a contextual menu with "Add to Dashboard" and "Delete from Dashboard".

Has anyone had the same experience. I tried deleting the Widget like like the poster instructed but when I go back to the widget dock the deleted widget turns black with symbols (@ iTunes icon, clock and a cloud) and the name of the widget is still there. Can't seem to delete it. I'll call Apple care about it.

Never mind, I figured it out. After deletion of the widget it requires a restart and the widget completely goes away from the dock . Not the easiest task considering this is Mac OSX.

Just to give all the information on where widgets are stored:
1. If you download new widgets, typically they will be saved in <home dir>/library/widgets, and to remove them, simply delete them from there.
2. Sometimes downloaded widgets will be stored in the same folder as the original apple widgets, in /library/widgets/: you can delete them from there (and also get rid of those useless widegets for all those of us who do NOT live in the States, like "flight tracker" and "yellow pages", which are only useful for USA residents)
3. You can also RENAME widgets in the /widgets/ folders anyway you wish: they are listed in alphabetical order when they show on the screen, you can rename them so they will show up in the order you want them to. Cool!
PS when will we get dictionaries in languages other than english?

As others have stated... sure... I get it, I understood the directions and removed mine... but why jump through so many hoops to remove a widget...? The made it FOOLPROOF to install them... they just install themselves and Appear!
My best-guess is that Apple decided that novice users might accidentally "remove" widgets that they didn't intend to... but this is true all-over the UI... people accidentally remove things from the dock, the sidebar, etc... they learn... give us OTHER users the ability to remove "crappy" widgets that are sub-par without running a gauntlet.
