I know that anacron no longer works and am curious if it would be possible to create an automator workflow that would run the cron scripts? If so, could someone share how I might do this?

it wouldn't be too hard - just have one stage in the pipeline - execute shell script.

It won't get you an automatically repeating action though - you might want to use poor man's chron instead of automator.

I've not really done anything in this area before, but I think the latest version of Cocktail (updated to add Tiger support) might do what you want.

Tiger still includes and supports the running of cron jobs. In Tiger Apple has migrated all system cron jobs to launchd jobs. Which you can find in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons.

The documentation for launchd currently isn't as good as it can be, but I have the evidence of 2 samplings that launchd will run missed jobs (either that or there is an 1 hour error on how launchd is calculating time).
