Is anyone else having fun searching for random words and seeing what shows up in Spotlight? I'm quite impressed at some of the things it finds.

Today I searched for "lion" (for no particular reason). I had no idea off-hand what it would find. Here were my results:

The results mostly consist of some documents that mention lions, some images with "lion" in the filename, and some songs with "lion" in the title. But the interesting (to me) result is the last one, under Movies. It's chapter 2 of the "making of" featurette for The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. But "lion" doesn't appear in the movie's title.

I also gleaned some marginally useful knowledge about lions from old documents I forgot existed. For instance, did you know that the mythical Baku of Japan has a lion's head and eats your bad dreams? Or would you like to see a word puzzle that uses "lion"? It's all there, in Spotlight.

Post your fun Spotlight results here, if you have any.

Spotlight apparently also will show files from other user's accounts and let you open them eventhough the Finder will not. Apple's already looking into these reports. Just an FYI.

I work in natural language processing, which means i write a lot of programs that have dictionaries as data files. Which means that no matter what I enter into Spotlight, I get like 30 hits that are essentially just wordlists. Kinda annoying!

Bummer indeed... I suppose you could tell it not to search where such files are ... if they are in clearly defined places .

By doing random search with Spotlight, I noticed it will find text layers in a Photoshop file. Cool!
