I noticed just now that when I move or copy & paste a file in Tiger's Finder there is a sound effect (kind of sci-fi echo). Has this always been present or is it new to Tiger?

The only way I have found of turing it off is System Prefs>Sound and untick the 'Play User Interface Sound Effects' option. This, however, also turns off the Trash sounds - is there any way to select which sounds to keep and which to turn off?

Not a major issue if not, I'll just turn them all off, but I would like to keep the Trash sounds if possible.

it's new i think.

i just hate the trash sound...
that crumpling sounds horrible..

and a toilet flush would be too base. lol

a nice melodic tone or even this sci fi echo sound would be better (imho)

Only just noticed the empty trash sound and I've decided I'm not a big fan.
Looks like it's time to turn the sound effects off alltogether.

I really dislike the new "move file" sound.

Seems like it's all or nothing, until someone figures out how to hack it.

Has anyone noticed that these just seem to stop working (sounding) randomly? On my iMac G5 (OS X 10.4.2), they just go away after some time: sometimes hours, sometimes days.

I haven't turned them off... they just stop altogether,

If you find the .aif sound files in the appropriate package (EasyFind would do it) you could just rename them, or replace them with a silent .aif file.

You can't eat all those hamburgers, you hear me you ridiculous man?
