Uncheck "Open safe files after downloading" in Safari's preferences. The side-effect is you'll have to double click on the file in question manually to have disk utility open.

What exactly is rotten in Denmark?

Nope. You either have open automatically and get the warning about disk images with applications in them or turn it off and get no warning but have to double click the images manually to mount them.
This is largely in response to the big security uproar from last year.

Only if Apple included a hidden preference that would allow you to disable the dialog box without disabling automatic mounting.
If there is no such hidden preference, then someone would have to write a haxie to disable it.

It's stupid there's no way to turn that off. If I clicked a link to download something than I can take it like a man!

Is it really too hard to mount the disk image manually after downloading it?
Oh, and anyone who was screaming at the top of their lungs for Apple to fix the security hole that was opened by the ability to download a disk image containing an application without the user's knowledge, who now is whining for Apple to change it back, well, don't be so hypocritical because you got what you asked for...
