In settings that call for high performance filesystems the administrator has the option to move the filesystem journal to a different array or disk which helps decrease the I/O load. (Such as with SGI's XFS and CXFS filesystem)

Is it possible to move the journal with HFS+?

No. And it would not be a good idea for a normal-perfromance system like Apple produces. Apple does not compete in the same space as Sun or SGI.
