I'm having a problem with iChat A/V 3.0 on my iMac G5 1.8 Ghz. It wont get through by using iSight. I always get "insufficent bandwidth" message after it fails to connect on iSight with my friend.
Check this out on Apple's discussion: Linky

Any one of you having the same experience? I suspect this iChat A/V 3.0 is bugged.. How long do you think Apple will release iChat 3.0.1?

Bandwidth problem eveen with 2 audio chatpartners! Such a crap. iChat's audio capabilites tend to zero (listen to Netfone or even the semi-crappy Skype). How much bandwidth does it take to make such a “sound“? 2-3KB/sec (5500-6000 khz). Pfff.

Who cares about h264 if the sound is total crap. I can't change the quality settings by hand and it won't auto-adjust. *drop function to trash bin*

I've had only positived experiences with ichat 3 from New York to Stockholm, Sweden. Perfect sound quality on both DSL and cable lines. But I suppose these lines are pretty fast...

I have 64 KB(yte) upstream and I am damn sure this should be enuff to make a decent sound possible. We use Netfone (where you can choose your quality settings by hand) and we normally talk in 22 khz (10.KB/sec).

It is a massive difference.

No, I think this is a major design flaw.

h.264 has nothing to do with audio. it's a video codec.

i've used audiochat numerous times with no problems. it's gotta be something with the computer, network setup, isp, and/or quirks in tiger.

It is a bug. Nothing wrong with your bandwidth. Check out this thread:

You may also want to have a look at the iChat AV 3.0 forum at Apple Support.
