Have you tried VLC? Or you can export them in classic to a current codec.

Thus far, the only thing I've found that works is to play them through Classic. That said, it's possibly that VLC might be able to handle them now; it's been a while since I checked. The problem is that Ligos, the company responsible for the Indeo codecs you mention, hasn't developed them on any platform -not even Windows- in years.

Surprising anyone *needs* to use the Indeo codecs. They've been dead for years.

If I recall correctly, the specs aren't publically available - that being the whole problem.

ffmpeg has been working to reverse engineer the 3.2 version codec, with mild success. I don't know if that code has made it into any players yet, since I don't have the faintest clue where to get an Indeo file to test them with.
I think Ligos sold the codecs to someone at some point (Intel?)
Just export your indeo movies to another format from Classic QT.
I believe some digital cameras use indeo 5, that might be a source of the files for some people.

It's the other way around; Intel sold them to Ligos. The last version of the codecs on OS9 were Intel-developed.

A while back, Intel had a deal with the author of XAnim, one of the first media players for X11. They allowed him to include the Indeo codecs in his app, but he was under heavy NDA and he couldn't open the source. Perhaps a similar arrangement could be reached with Ligos now, assuming a developer could be found who was willing to do it under similar terms?
