I'm going to do a clean install of Tiger. The thing is, my Powerbook 12" has the OS 9 folder and I want to be able to launch classic apps.

When I do a clean install, should I back up the OS 9 System folder, then reinsert it in the root of the hard drive after installing Tiger? Will that be enough or are there other files I should backup?

That's what I ended up doing after learning the Classic implementation in Tiger was mucked up as mentioned elsewhere in the forums the weekend when Tiger came out.

You should be okay to drag your System Folder (OS9) to your new Tiger machine and work without a hitch....at least that's what worked for me. Or, you could use something that can view (eg, Cocktail) and then extract the hidden System Folder (OS9) from your Tiger install DVD and drag that to your new machine -- that works, too.

No, Tiger won't install Classic. You have to back up your copy, then copy it back, if you format the HD.
