I have a StartupItems script that launches a few fetchmail processes. One thing that doesn't make sense is some of its output:
Code:
xserve:/Library/StartupItems/fetchmailLauncher admin$ sudo SystemStarter stop "fetchmail Processes" Welcome to Macintosh. Unable to open parameters file /System/Library/StartupItems/WebObjects/StartupParameters.plist for item WebObjects. (No such file or directory) Stopping fetchmail Processes fetchmail: no other fetchmail is running fetchmail Launcher (20195) did not complete successfully. The following StartupItems failed to properly start: /Library/StartupItems/fetchmailLauncher - execution of Startup script failed Startup complete. Hangup
My script doesn't have anything to do with WebObjects. Can anyone explain Lines 3 and 4? I presume that Lines 7-9 are a consequence of whatever produced Lines 3 and 4.

Well, lines 3 and 4 happen because when SystemStarter starts it loads all of the StartupParameters plists so it can determine dependencies between the startup items - even though yours doesn't involve WebObjects.

As for lines 7-9, why do you assume anything? Assumptions are evil.
