I am running OSX tiger. I have been having this problem before I loaded tiger. I have 512 ram, G4 Powerbook.

I do not have duplicated fonts.

The problem is that the text is all scrambled up like it is too small and has no spacing. It happens with Web based stuff, e-mail, chat widgets, web sites. I have tried everything!

Please help.

This is a documented issue and I used to have a link to the Apple KB article that told you why it happens and how to solve it... but, guess what, I can't find it anymore and nor can I find it with a quick-ish search at Apple support. It has something to do with font duplication or disablement of one of the core system fonts, IIRC. Try searching the Apple support forums and KB and I am sure you will find the answer there.
