Now that Tiger has been out for a week or two, I was wondering which one the users here prefer. I personally haven't tried out Tiger yet, but from what I hear, Panther sounds like a more reliable OS.

First of all, I think you forgot to actually make this a poll.
Second, There is no question as to which one is a better operating system. Tiger is just more advanced than Panther, period.
As far as the problems, most that you have been hearing about relate to application compatibility with the new operating system. This has nothing to do with how stable the OS is. Imagine if everyone would have taken the same attitude when OS X came out, we'd all still be using OS 9 because it was more 'stable' even though in reality it was not.
Tiger does have its fair share of problems, but you are comparing on OS that has been out for a year and a half and gone through a year and a half of updates and fixes. Panther had 9 major updates, not counting all the smaller ones and security fixes. Tiger has been out for less than a month. How can you compare the two on stability?
I am sure that as of yet, there are a ton of people still using Panther simply because all their apps will still work. However, after a couple months when everything has been updated, there is no question in my mind that everyone will begin to adopt Tiger, just as they did from Jaguar to Panther.

I don't think Tiger is unstable. But it is buggy - especially Mail and .Mac sync. This makes it pretty useless to me, so I was forced to go back to Panther to get any real work done.
Panther brought with it lots of questionably usability "enhancements" from Apple, but Tiger added more. Disappointing, and once again makes Tiger less usable in some circumstances. As Fusion said though, Panther had over a year to get all the bugs out. Still, I think Tiger feels more buggy in it's initial release than Panther did. Got a "rushed" feel to it...

right now i prefer 10.3.8 to 10.4.0. everything was much simpler, although not as "snappy" as tiger in some areas. dashboard is almost a waste of time to me, if it wasn't just like an all windows expose, and more like konfabulator, it would be more of use to me. i do use the translator quite a bit. ctrl+apple+d is my favorite though.
