Hey,

I'm trying to figure out the best way to edit web pages directly on my ftp server. In the Finder I went to "Connect to server..." and entered in the ftp address, and it mounted on my desktop. Unfortunately, it mounted read-only! Of couse, I have full read/write access.

Any idea why it is doing this?

If this is just a silly limitation by Apple, do you know of any good alternative? I could use webdav, but that means reconfiguring the server.... I'd rather see what other alternatives I have first.

Justin

It appears to be by design.

Transmit is a shockingly good FTP-client. Or search versiontracker.com for alternatives.

It's not a silly limitation. Go search to see why it doesn't make sense.

I disagree. I read the arguments. It's even more ridiculous that they purposefully limit the ftp client to being read-only.

What's even more silly is that they have webdav support, which has most of the same limitations as ftp!
