Hi, everyone.

My iMac G3 333mhz Mac OS 9 freezes. It has stoped freezing as much now because i have resized the disk cache but it still freezes about once every three hours. is this the way of life for OS 9 or is there a problem. i havent had any kernal panics yet, all i have got is freezes. it mostly happens on internet explorer or just in finder at random times.

cheers, kick52

Find another browser to use, if you can, besides IE. It was nicknamed Internet Exploder on a Mac for a reason.

Dump your internet preferences and empty your cache often if you have to keep using it. Consider upgrading to Panther, that machine will run it just fine with at least 256mb of RAM.

How long has it been since the operating system was reinstalled? It might just be time for a fresh install.

Preen out any unnecessary extensions in /System Folder/Extensions. They can sometimes make your system unstable if they are corrupt or conflicting with each other.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
