Hi,

Just wondering anyone tried MACinPC v2.4 before? It is a PC software to convert your PC Desktop into an Apple Mac Desktop. Check it at www.MACinPc.com

How does it work?

Thank you.

It very much lookcs like they have just re-packaged emulators like Basilisk and PearPC. There is no way a small company is going to be able to create something like this by themselves.

Apparently this allows you to emulate a Medium Access Control on your PC. Why you would want to do this is beyond me.

Yes. Imagine. Have a Mac for only $9.99. How do they do it?

Strictly speaking, technically it's Media Access Control.

Still, I agree that it's an odd idea.

It definately does look like someone has taken Pear PC and Softmac. The screenshots for the older versions that they're selling relate to the softmac emulator. http://www.emulators.com/index.htm
No where on the emulators inc site does it say that they are now selling for $9.
They offer their software for free download.
Looks like someone has packaged them up and is selling them for $9 although it would be good if they had tweeked them and updated them a bit.

Like with all emulators, you'll save yourself an aneurism if you just buy the computer instead of trying to emulate it.

I believe the "MAC Emulator" they're selling is old, as all the screenshots show it running a pre-OS X version of the Mac OS. The "MACinPC" program appears to just be a program which will make Windows XP look like OS X. It's not an emulator, just a program which automates the process of modifying Windows XP to look like OS X. You can do the same thing yourself for free (more or less) but it takes a fair amount of trouble to really get it looking exactly like OS X.

as far as just changing the look goes, you could actually write an entirely separate shell app and modify the system to load your app inetstead of shell.exe. Its really not that hard, actually.

Just bought the product from www.macinpc.com
It is something new. Not iemulator. It worked fine but a lil slow at first . They also provide info on how to configure your memory to speed up the emulation, etc.

Thats definately one of the best emulators if not the best out there but would be much better if they had better user interface and a bit longer help files. Generally, I would have recommended it.

You can never get XP to look exactly like OS X, you can only get it to look passably like OS X in much the same way that you could get OS 9 to look passably like OS X via Kaleidoscope - the XP font rendering still sucks and it can't do proper transparencies and drop shadows etc.

I don't maybe because the only person to try the software has only 4 posts, with two of them being in this thread?

Now the real question is why is he trying to sell PC software in a Mac (or is it MAC) forum?

If you want to pimp your own website, that's fine, just be up front about it.

Also, I'm gonna need a whole lot more detail on what exactly this is before I fork over my dozen washingtons.

lol.

So the OP was a new user with apprehensions about software.

He then goes ahead and buys it against the advice of all the other posts and gets it shipped Instant Delivery® to tell us that its great.

Cool.
