Im working on getting DNS set up on my box here and found a nice tutorial on enabling the default Bind under tiger. I have hit a roadblock however. Bind seems to already be running on my box even tho I havent enabled it. Can any other tiger users tell me if the have "named" running?

No, named is not running on my system.

Did you do an upgrade? Was it already running on Panther?

I figured out why its running. If you set "Internet Sharing" to "On" then Bind starts up whether its running already or not.
