So I hand out a lot of passwords in my day to day work, and I really like the addition of the Apple Password Assistant.
I usually just launch it from the Account system preferences pane, but that's sort of dumb. Does anyone know of a way I could create a short cut or something quick like that.

Stick the Keychain.app in your dock.

Is there a way to get to the assistant through Keychain Access without doing new password item and clicking the assistant icon?
I'm in the same position as GSixZero, and it's annoying to have to go through a bunch of intermediate steps just to open this simple tool.

In Tiger, open Keychain and then Apple N. You'll get a prompt to create a new password and it'll rate its effectiveness over several categories.

Right, but that's still three steps before getting to the assistant, you have to 1) open keychain access, 2) create a new password entry, and 3) click the assistant button. That's not really any better than doing it through the accounts pref pane assuming you use a launcher that can take you directly to it (which I do).
Ideally, I'd like to be able to launch the password assistant directly from QuickSilver.

There's a password widget out for Dashboard. Or, instead of QS, you could use the much better F10.

Ah, cool. I hadn't seen that widget yet. It's not quite as good as the password assistant, but it'll do in a pinch.
I'm assuming the assistant is something that any program could call up, so I may see about writing a little app that does nothing but bring up the password assistant. Probably shouldn't be too hard.
I haven't used F10 before, but since you have to pay for it I'm not going to bother. I paid for LaunchBar when it first came out and was completely happy with doing so. But now that there's a free alternative that works well enough for me (I use it only for launching aps from the keybaord) I'm not about to go back to paying for the same thing.
