I have powerbook g4 with japanese keyboard and language support installed. I rarely use japanese input methods but i use the input menu to switch between other keyboards, european, american/japanese.

The annoying thing is that switching between applications also changes the keyboard settings. This happens especially when activating mozilla Firefox. I just unchecked "try to match keyboard with text" at the options but it didn't help.
Also, keyboards removed from the list in international settings still appear in the menu

Anyone else having similar problems? I'm using 10.3.9 and this is not a new problem for me.

Isn't there an option in preferences to allow different input languages for different documents? Or is that Tiger-only?

Haven't seen it in 10.3.9, unless you mean "try to match keyboard with text" option. I installed some unrelated updates and tinkered with the international settings and for a day or two it was working perfectly. It doesn't seem to switch the keyboard when switching applications anymore but it's certainly not stable yet since the removed keyboards(flags) still come back and the inputs methods get mixed up sometimes.

Cheers
